Prince’s Purple Rain Super Bowl

The game isn’t over. As of now, it’s 29 – 17, Colts leading, with just over 5 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The commercials this year didn’t impress me much. I’ll write about those later. Here are some pictures of Prince during the Pepsi halftime show. I was quite pleased that he sang some of his old songs, including Purple Rain. A fitting song, given the weather at today’s game. Pretty soon the winning 15 second commercial will air. Tune in tomorrow for more on that, and the commercials as a whole. Fun facts about Prince: Prince...

Punxsutawney Phil Didn’t See His Shadow!

We’re in for an early spring. No offense to Phil, but I think Global Warming has more to do with an early spring than a groundhog not seeing his shadow. Although I could be wrong since, according to the President, Global Warming doesn’t exist. Punxsutawney Phil hasn’t failed to see his shadow since 1999. According to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, since 1886, Phil has not seen his shadow 15 times and has seen it 96 times; not including the nine years there are no records. I have to admit, the little critter is cute. George Bush and “non-existent” Global Warming… May...

“Super Tonio” Is A Super Big Baby!

Antonio Vasconcelos weighs 14.5 pounds and drinks 5 ounces of milk every three hours. But here’s the catch…Antonio is a newborn – a newborn human. Born this past Monday in Cancun, Mexico to parents Teresa Alejandra Cruz, 23, and Luis Vasconcelos, 38, “Super Tonio” was born by Cesarean section (thank goodness!), and is 22 inches long. On Wednesday, Narciso Perez Bravo, the hospital’s director, said, “We haven’t found any abnormality in the child, there are some signs of high blood sugar, and a slight blood infection, but that is being controlled so that...

Michael Jackson’s Kids — Unmasked!!

Usually when Michael Jackson’s three children go out in public, their faces are covered. But not in Las Vegas yesterday! First up: Prince Michael (the first) and Paris; their mother is Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe. Man, I wonder what’s going through her mind these days. At the time of their births, both Michael and Debbie said the children were conceived “the old fashioned” way. But I’m not convinced. I’m not even convinced that Michael Jackson is their biological father. Next we have Prince Michael II (Blanket), whose biological mother is unknown. I...

Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl XLI is this coming Sunday, February 4th, 2007. I don’t care about the game. I don’t know anything about the teams that are in it (the Colts and the Bears). But I enjoy the commercials, and am really looking forward to them this year. Here’s a little taste of what got me so excited, Kevin Federline style: You can find official Super Bowl XLI news and information HERE Fun facts about Nationwide: The last 80 years Nationwide® has gone from a small auto insurer for Ohio farmers, to one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the...

The Police Will Reunite For The 2007 Grammy Awards

I’m so excited about this bit of news. The Recording Academy has announced that The Police will perform together at the Grammys this year – 23 years after breaking up due to conflict within the band. Best known for hits like “Roxanne” and “Every Breath You Take,” The Police are Grammy winners themselves, five times over. They last performed together when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 2003. The band, made up of singer/songwriter Sting, guitarist Andy Summers, and drummer Stewart Copeland, combined reggae with rock and pop, resulting...

2007 Screen Actors Guild Awards

Last night was the 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards. Nothing too exciting this year; in fact, I found the end to be fairly anti-climatic with Annette Benning simply saying, “Goodnight.” The two things that made my jaw drop the most were when Eddie Murphy thanked Tracey Edmonds for, “making everything right,” when accepting the award for supporting actor for Dreamgirls, and when Chandra Wilson of Grey’s Anatomy referred to Isiah Washington as “the other one, in rehab,” when she accepted her award for Actress in a Drama Series. Here is a complete list of winners: Movies Actor:...
