Some Thoughts On Friendship

Aside from my immediate family, my friends mean the world to me; I would be lost without them. Which is why it is extra hard when I feel as though they are not putting as much into our friendship as I am. I am sure I am not the only person in the world with this issue. Over the years, I have found that quotes really help me in such trying times. I like to type them up and leave them around my house. Here are some quotes on friendship that I hope will bring to you the peace they bring to me. “Thy friendship oft has made my heart to ache: do be my enemy for friendship’s...

Get a BeerBelly – Sneak Beer Into Events w/ the BeerBelly

I’m not really sure what to say about this one. But it is so absurd that I feel it should at least be recognized. My sister sent me a link to the Beer Belly as a joke, and now my boyfriend actually wants a Beer Belly for Christmas. The Beerbelly is a sling with a polyurethane “bladder” and dispensing tube, and is easily hid under your clothes. You can fill it with any kind of alcohol or liquid beverage — hot or cold. It’s kinda like the Camel that hikers use, except this one is worn on your front and comes with a sexy belly. Why would you want a fake...

My Vote Counted! Richard Pombo Lost

I’m going to go out on a limb here and claim that it was because of my vote that Richard Pombo lost. Thank you! I’m so glad that I made a difference in the world. I’m not the only one happy to see him go… We bring you a special Grist tribute to the man who dreamt at night of shoving oil drills down the throats of endangered species… Ah, Dick. Remember when you tried to sell off drilling rights in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to fund transportation pork? That was insane funny. You always did have a sense of humor… Then there was the time you put out...

Faith Hill At Country Music Awards – Sore Loser or Bad Joker?

Faith Hill says that her mouthing “WHAT?” at the camera backstage when Carrie Underwood won Female Vocalist of the Year at last night’s Country Music Association Awards, was all a joke. Her manager, Gary Borman, supported her claim: “I’ve worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being’s success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she’s incapable of such actions …… She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful...

Britney Spears Gets Divorced

Today, as we were all checking the appropriate boxes on our ballots (or touching the screen if you were as cool a voter as I was), Britney Spears, 24, was checking the ever popular “irreconcilable differences” box on her divorce petition, with yesterday as the date of separation. Can it be true? Has the fairy tale come to an end? (Kevin’s fairy tale, that is) Poor little K-Fed, he really screwed this one up. Did he not realize that he won the lottery when Britney Spears married him? You have to be pretty dumb to mess that up. Of course, Britney is no member...

Today in Political History – Montana suffragist Jeannette Rankin

NOVEMBER 7th Montana suffragist Jeannette Rankin was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on this day in 1916. She was the first woman ever to win a seat in the federal Congress. Rankin was the daughter of progressive parents who encouraged her to think outside of the early 20th century box into which she was born. She worked briefly as a social worker after graduating from the University of Montana and the New York School of Philanthropy, and was very involved in the Women’s Suffrage Movement. With the vote for women secured, Rankin ran for a seat in Congress in...

Voting Registration – I Am Voting. Are You?

Today is a very important day. ELECTION DAY. So let your voice be heard and GO VOTE! In honor of this day, keep in mind these wise words said by our fellow humans – some, said even before the birth of Christ. And be sure to check out the video at the bottom — voting advice from someone we all love! – Man is by nature a political animal. (Aristotle, b.c.) – Where some people are very wealthy and others have nothing, the result will be either extreme democracy or absolute oligarchy, or despotism will come from either of those excesses. (Aristotle, b.c. ) – I…could...
