AAA To The Rescue!

In light of the upcoming three-day weekend, I thought I would share with you a wonderful new service from AAA. Thanks to the national automobile club, drivers can now look up the gas stations along their travel route, avoiding, hopefully, being one of the 2.5 million people who run out of gas and need a roadside fill up from AAA.

AAA’s free online mapping tool, TripTik, now has the ability to find the nearest and cheapest gas for about 100,000 U.S. locations along your route. Slide your mouse over each location and the prices for all levels of fuel pop up.

The pricing information comes from the Oil Price Information Service and is updated on a regular basis.

Sounds to me like this would be a good tool to use if you’re planning a trip and don’t want to spend forever looking for a gas station once your tank hits “E”. There’s nothing more annoying than driving around wasting gas looking for a place to fill up.

Visit AAA Route for more information.

I have AAA Plus, which includes 100 miles of FREE towing and, I believe, they’ll bring me a new battery if mine dies while I’m out and about. I’ve only had to use the free towing once, it was totally worth it – I was towed 76 miles! I strongly recommend AAA Plus to anyone who has a crappy car and or drives long distances a lot.
