Don Imus. “Imus” Change The Station.

UPDATE: MSNBC has decided to drop its simulcast of Imus in the Morning. This decision will not affect his nationally syndicated show, which is controlled by CBS Corp.

So I guess some side won, but I’m not really sure which one.

Original post…
Proctor & Gamble and Staples have pulled their advertising from the Don Imus radio show. The Rutger’s Women’s Basketball Team held a press conference and is going to meet with the radio host. Tons of people think Imus should be fired.

I don’t.

The man started his career over thirty years ago. He was controversial then. He still is. He was hired with this in mind.

When a person’s job is to push the envelope, you cannot then punish them for pushing it too far.

Don Imus has always been a jackass and has always said jackass things. He says horrible things about lots of groups. He is an equal opportunity insulter.

And guess what. He has the right to be. Sure, it may not be in good taste, but he still has the right to say it. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to him. You have the ability to change the station.

This is America and we are creatures of free will. I do not in anyway condone what Don Imus said, but I do support the fact that he had the right to say it.

Should he be fired? That’s not up to me to decide. That’s up to his bosses and his advertisers. The only decision I can make is to not listen to his show. And I don’t.

Don Imus is a cranky, cranky man. And I really don’t think he has room to be talking about anyone else’s hair. He and Donald Trump must have the same stylist.
