For those of you who don’t know, I spend the daylight hours as an Office Manager and Transaction Coordinator for a real estate company in Northern California – that’s where my title ends, but my duties go way beyond, ultimately landing me as the all around “go-to” person; when all else fails, ask Hilary is basically the motto at my office.
Mostly it’s a pretty thankless job, but every once in awhile something comes along that reminds me that I am actually contributing to society and doing good for the world.
Yesterday was one of those times.
At our office meeting yesterday morning, I was awarded with a certificate in honor of the 25 trees that have been planted in my name. When I have an escrow for which a Natural Hazard Report is needed I order it from National Disclosure Authority and by doing so a tree is planted at the close of the transaction. The 25 trees I was awarded for today are from the year’s first quarter, so I’m probably closer to 50 by now.
Those 25 trees cover a quarter of an acre of land…..
One quarter of an acre of trees removes 1.5 tons of carbon dioxide and gives off 1 ton of oxygen. These amounts will offset the greenhouse gases emitted from your car and home this year. By planting trees, we are making a real and dramatic contribution to preserving and enhancing the environment.
You hear that? I’m making a real and dramatic contribution to preserving and enhancing the environment.
Yup, I’m saving the world.
Jealous much?
LOL! Congrats, Hilary! Woohoo!!!!! Trees are great and good for us too! I hope other businesses, be it real estate or not, follow the example you have set.
Care though….no one likes a pompous winner.
😉
Cool that you are responsible for nearly 50 new trees.
That reminds me of a child’s poem my nephew used to recite when he was just a tiny guy…
A little seed for me to sow.
A little dirt to make it grow.
A little sun, a little shower,
A little wish and then
A great big flower.
Go green, girl,
