Super Bowl XLIII is this Sunday February 1st. Can’t you just feel the excitement? The parties, the commercials, the half-time show, the thrill of the game – it’s like a holiday that belongs only to America.
This year the Super Bowl battle is between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
I know nothing about the teams and don’t necessarily care, but I’ll certainly have the game on as I putt around the house. Like so many others across the country, I enjoy the Super Bowl commercials and the half-time show more than I do the game.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers did last year’s Super Bowl halftime show. It was awesome of course; but that’s probably because I am a huge Tom Petty fan and to me he and The Heartbreakers can do no wrong. This year it’s going to be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I must admit, I’m not all that fond of Springsteen’s voice, but I like some of his songs so I suppose it’ll be tolerable.
The Super Bowl commercials, on the other hand, are always enjoyable – even the really crappy ones. Come on, admit it, you know I’m right. I tend to really like the Super Bowl commercials with the subtle humor. And the beer commercials! Those are always great.
Oh! And the commercials with celebrities poking fun at themselves and their image – those are fun too.
This year I’m looking forward to the Cash4Gold commercial starring Ed McMahon and MC Hammer. Two once very rich celebrities talking about how they’ve had to send their bling to Cash4Gold in return for money – how can that not be a great commercial? Yup, MC Hammer and Ed McMahon for Cash4Gold; it’s going to be golden!
Jennifer Hudson will be performing in public this Super Bowl Sunday for the first time since the horrific Hudson family murders when she takes the stage to sing the National Anthem.
