Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler is coming to the defense of Miss California Carrie Prejean. Sort of.
While Shanna praises Carrie for her convictions, Shanna disagrees with the pageant contestant’s beliefs – and the way she answered Perez Hilton’s question about gay marriage.
Shanna Moakler took to her MySpace blog to share that Carrie Prejean did not lose the crown because of what she said, but rather how she said it.
“She lost the crown because she wasn’t able to convey compassion for ALL the people that, as MISS USA, she would be representing,” Moakler wrote. “And if YOU like it or not, gays and lesbians make up this country as well. THIS is why we have judges, so they can find the RIGHT woman who obtains these qualities.”
“[I don’t] have any issue with her stating her opinion… I agree with the majority that this IS what makes our country great… freedom of speech. She was asked a question, and she answered it.”
So basically Shanna Moakler and Perez Hilton agree that Miss California Carrie Prejean is not this year’s Miss USA because she does not possess the ability to show compassion for every single member of this country.
I totally agree. I mean, how can Carrie Prejean have the title of ‘Miss USA’ in public when in her head she’s ‘Miss USA minus the gay people’?
Check out Shanna Moakler as Miss USA:
uh huh. i don’t have problems with her personal belief either, but this is after all a Ms USA contest and certainly it should be someone who is NOT “politically insensitive” nor “politically offensive” (screw her “No offense to anyone”). Ms California, just bring back world peace and stop dragging Jesus and bible into this will ya? it makes u look even more stupid!
Mario Lavandeira (Perez Hilton) should not have been a judge to begin with!
This man verbally and visually bashes on everyone around him.
That’s right “soo”
Let people in American not have their own views. Let them be robots and agree with one another all the time, just to make you happy.
I am for Gay Marriage.
But I am not for people pushing others into agreeing to something they don’t want to and don’t have to believe in.
So instead of an honest Miss America, people want one that lies and doesn’t stand up for herself? Miss America MUST stand for everyone and everything, and not have a view of her own?
