Billy Mays was found dead this morning, about 12 hours after he had returned home from a flight during which he was hit over the head when one of the plane’s tires blew out, causing a rough landing.
There is no confirmation that the hit over his head contributed to Billy’s death, but it does seem like and awfully big coincidence.
Just to be safe and cover their asses I’m sure, the FAA has already released a statement basically blaming Billy Mays for getting hit – because he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
Here’s what we know — Billy Mays was aboard US Airways Flight 1241 flying from Philadelphia, which landed roughly when the front tire blew out as it touched down. After the flight, Billy told FOX 13 in Tampa that something struck him in the head — here’s Billy’s actual quote:
“All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head.”
We called the FAA for comment, and a spokesperson told us, “The passenger needs to wear a seat belt during landing and he didn’t.”
A spokesperson for US Airways did not want to comment until more information comes to light.
Billy posted about it last on his Twitter last night, saying, “Just had a close call landing in Tampa. The tires blew out upon landing. Stuck in the plane on the runway. You can always count on US Air.”
This video is pretty random, but I thought it was pretty funny so I had to share it.
Billy Mays goes to McDonald’s…..
So sorry to hear of the death of Billy Mays. You know, in a way Billy Mays was kind of like….ELVIS. When you heard Elvis’ voice, there was no doubt…you knew exactly who it was. With Billy Mays, when you heard his voice, you knew exactly who HE was!!! He had a way of making you believe in the product he was selling. I have tried about all of them. Kind of like ELVIS again…no one will ever sing and do exactly like ELVIS again, and no one will ever sound like and be another….BILLY MAYS!! RIP Billy. We will miss seeing your smiling face! Sue B
