There are many celebrity feuds we know about – Ke$ha vs Britney, Conan vs Leno, Lindsay Lohan vs Everybody – but there also seem to be many we don’t.
Namely, Richard Simmons vs Susan Powter; I had no idea the personal fitness and empowerment world had such a sorted underbelly. For this particular spat we have former Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist Slash to thank. No, seriously.
Slash has a new album on which several musicians are featured – including Richard Simmons. Yes, super hyper fitness guy Richard Simmons. He doesn’t exactly sing though – it’s more of a screech.
Simmons does guest vocals on a hard-rockin’ track entitled “Bunz Of Steele” that also features a killer harmonica solo by Paul Shaffer. Really, this harmonica solo will redefine the word “orgasm” in your vocabulary.
Simmons is no slouch either, screeching at the top of his lungs like a castrated banshee (”SUSAN POWTER, YOU GO TO HELL, YOU EVIL HAR-PEEEEE!!”). Judas Priest, you just found your new front man.
Susan Powter, obviously, is not taking this lying down and has posted a video on her website as well as released a statement.
Check it out! Meeow!!
Banshee: a female spirit in Irish mythology, usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the Otherworld. [source]
Harpy: in Greek mythology, was one of the winged spirits best known for constantly stealing all food from Phineas. The literal meaning of the word seems to be “that which snatches.” [source]
They’re both has-beens who wanna be in the limelight again, but I’ll take Simmons’ brand of crazy over Powter’s any day. She is seriously effed up. The woman uses the same lines and language over and over again, as if she never has a new thought. She’s hypocritical and a liar. Breast implants, tummy tuck, lipo….Powter has had it all done, yet she victimizes gullible fat woman by telling them that they can be as firm as she is if only they follow her program which is now being sold on her nonsensical website. The woman does have a violent, fragmented mind and a distorted sense of self. She’s broke, washed up, f*cked up.
At least Simmons’ is still selling his sincerity, even if done in too-short shorts.
Well thinking as an overweight woman I would rather work out to Richard Simmons since he gives me less of the creep factor than Susan Powter. DO I agree with what he said and how he chose to say it no. Even really hypocritical androgynous people have feelings too and opinions as we have come to see from her. Although I have to say watching Richard working with guns n roses is amusing
