This morning I told you about a new sexy vampire book from Katie Salidas called House of Immortal Pleasures. Without ruining the surprise of my review tomorrow, I can tell you that I definitely have a new-found lust for vampires. I mean, I always knew they were hot, but this book took it to a whole new level.
Q: Katie, you say you’ve loved vampires and vampire stories your whole life. Is there one story/book in particular that had a special hold on you, more so than the others you’ve read? Why?
A: I don’t think I could say I love one story above others. Each story, each series of books I pick up has something new and interesting that draws me in. I love seeing the different angles that are presented. Vampires can really be anything: Sexy, mysterious, dark, brooding, roguish, intense, super-bad, and knights in shining armor. That’s part of why I love them so much. Current authors have really turned these once dark and scary villains into a chameleon like lust-worthy creature. Some favorites in my collection are: The Vampire Chronicles – Anne Rice, Southern Vampire Mysteries – Charlaine Harris, Anita Blake novels – Laurel K. Hamilton, and The Carpathian novels – Christine Feehan.
Q: In your story, vampires are known to exist but must stay within certain confines to remain a part of society. In your heart of hearts, do you believe vampires walk freely among us?
A: Wouldn’t it be interesting if they did? Call me crazy but it might be possible that some form of vampire is out there. Maybe they aren’t the immortal creatures we dream about but even something close might be kind of neat. Of course, if real immortals are out there, they’ve been doing a pretty good job of staying in the shadows.
Q: Do you have plans to extend House of Immortal Pleasures? Or write a sequel?
A: I’ve had a few inquiries about this being turned into a novella series. Many people have fallen in love with Connor and want to know what happens next. When I wrote it I intentionally left it open-ended to allow for expansion. At this point I have a few ideas swimming around in my head. Let’s face it, a vampire-run brothel does open the doors for lots of sexy stories.
