Can you believe Survivor is coming back for its 23rd season? And it’s almost as good as it was the first few rounds! I’m still a huge fan, but the absolute obsession that once was, has waned a bit.
That being said, I have to give the producers props for continuing to come up with little ways to change the game each season. Most recently, the introduction of Redemption Island and the surprise return of two former players.
Survivor: South Pacific premieres Wednesday, September 14th at 8:00pm on CBS.
The newest season of will again feature two people who have played Survivor before. This time around it will be Ozzy Lusth, who was runner-up on Cook Islands and a member of the jury on Fans vs. Favorites, as well as *cringe* Benjamin “Coach” Wade, who made it to the jury on both Tocantins and Heroes vs. Villains.
In addition to the returning players, host Jeff Probst says there’s a new twist involving immunity, “This year with hidden immunity idols, we’re hiding the clue. No clue as to where the clue is. Once you find the clue, then you have to find the idol.”
Another spice in the boiling water? One of the castaways is the nephew of the most hated Survivor player ever, Russell Hantz. Seriously. He doesn’t look a whole lot like Russell, so that could work for him – but he does have a tattoo of his last name, which could totally give him away. It’s going to get hot on Samoa my dear Brandon Hantz, you can only cover your arm for just so long.
As for the rest of the cast, we have a variety of lovely people to look forward to. Like a couple of teachers, a retired cop, a dating coach, a country singer, a law student, a mortician, and a pot club owner from Colorado. Oh yeah, Survivor: South Pacific is gonna be good…..
