Motivational Words From Jewel Diamond Taylor

Below is a Motivation Note from Motivational Speaker and Author, Jewel Diamond Taylor. I have no idea who gave it to me. The message really hit home for me, and I think it needs to be shared and passed on. Especially to Britney Spears, whose recent behavior is obviously an attempt to repel and push away those close to her. And yes, it’s motivating. ***** You don’t need anyone’s help to be a failure in life. You can do that all by yourself. But you cannot be a success in life without the help of others. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned about success...

Britney Spears Shaved Her Head! Seriously, Y’all!

Like I said the other day, it’ s Hollywood and the tides change quickly, this time by Britney Spears as she shaved off all of her hair. I’m not kidding! It’s gone. She’s bald. She sort of looks like a cross between Demi Moore from G.I. Jane, and Sinead O’Connor — except for the cellulite on the side. Britney Spears has cellulite on her head. I said it. Kinda nasty. The two theories on Britney’s reasoning are that she was tired of people “touching her” and that she had massively damaged hair. Either way, it’s a pretty...

Britney Spears’ Second Son Actually Exists!

Finally, the proof I’ve been waiting for. Here is a picture of Jayden James Federline, the second child* born to Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. In other Britney Spears news….apparently she checked into rehab a few days ago, only to check out 24 hours later. So does Hollywood have drive-thru rehab now, or what? *The second born is the true perfectionist. This person attends to details, strives for perfection and reads the fine print. “Good enough” is never good enough… The second born competes with the first born for parental attention… The...

Divorce Parties. Just In Time For Valentine’s Day!

The sad fact is, 50% of marriages end in divorce. Divorce is often a very hard period in someone’s life. But sometimes, a divorce is a time to celebrate. Perhaps it is the end to an abusive relationship, or maybe the woman has finally mustered up the strength and knowledge to survive on her own. Whatever the reason, divorce parties are on the rise. I know a couple of people who should have thrown a divorce party. Actually, divorce parties are so popular now, there are several website devoted to them – how to plan, how to decorate, etc. Here are some that I found: Throwing...

Wedding Dresses. Just In Time For Valentine’s Day!

Ask almost any woman about her wedding dress and I bet she’ll have wonderful memories — of the dress, but not necessarily the wedding itself. Have you ever been to one of those weddings? I have! Wedding dresses are a very important part of a wedding. In fact, some wedding dresses cost almost as much as the reception! I have a magazine picture somewhere of a wedding dress I really like. I also have my grandmother’s wedding dress in its original box, in my garage. I would have my mother’s, but she gave it to a cousin long before I came along. Besides, it was like a...

Poetry Scam. Don’t Be A Poetry Scam Victim!

The infamous “they” say there is a sucker born every minute. What they don’t say is that every 30 seconds a scammer is born. As a writer, the majority of scams I face are writing and poetry scams that come in the form of publishing contests. Right now, the biggest poetry scam going can be found at Poetry.com — a fraudulent publishing company that turns 100% of the submissions into ‘semi-finalists’. Poetry.com’s poetry scam has been around since 1996 and is frighteningly still going strong. As if to add salt to the wound, the state they are based in...

49th Annual Grammy Awards — Performances

The Grammys opened with the much anticipated reunion of The Police. It totally rocked! They started with Roxanne, which Sting does not really perform anymore because he can no longer hit the high notes like they should be hit. For the Grammys, he changed the melody of the song a little bit to compensate for his changed voice. It sounded modern and updated, but not in a bad or cheesy way. Next came the Dixie Chicks, introduced by folk singer Joan Baez. The performance was great and a nice way to start their winning streak for the evening. Prince introduced Beyonce. It was a...

49th Annual Grammy Awards — Winners

The biggest winners of the night were The Dixie Chicks, taking home 5 Grammys, and Mary J. Blige with 3 wins. It was also a big night for Lifetime Achievement recognitions. Those honored were: Booker T & the MGs (the first bi-racial house band), The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Maria Callas (opera singer), and Bob Wills (singer/songwriter). Some other things of note: ** When Carrie Underwood won her Grammy for Best New Artist (which she totally deserved), she thanked American Idol and Simon Cowell, acknowledging that she would not have been there without the talent show. **...

What ARE They Wearing? — Grammys Edition

As with other award shows, there are always some questionable fashion choices. Here are some of the outfits that made me wonder more than the others. Fun facts about the Grammys: Originally known as the Gramophone Awards, the name soon became Grammys; the Grammy itself is a golden gramophone. The Grammy is the only peer- presented award that honors artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position. The first Grammy given out for a Rap Performance was awarded to The Fresh Prince (Will...

Wise Words From Erma Bombeck

Anna Nicole Smith died yesterday at the young age of 39. I dedicate this post to her. Before her death in 1996, American humorist Erma Bombeck made a list entitled If I Had My Life To Live Over. My mother mailed me a copy a few years ago and I found it recently while going through some random papers. I hope you enjoy her words as much as I do. They are funny and wise, and definitely worth thinking about. IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER By Erma Bombeck (written while she was dying from complications from kidney disease) * I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending...

R.I.P. Anna Nicole Smith (1967-2007)

Anna Nicole Smith is dead! Holy crap! Can it really be? The world will never be the same. Perhaps I’ve watched too many Soap Operas over the years, or maybe I’m just oddly overly creative, but I’m guessing there’s more to this than we think. Here’s my theory on the whole mess… Howard K. Stern got Daniel hooked on drugs, and ultimately killed him. He also got Anna Nicole addicted (which I’m sure didn’t take much arm twisting). All in an attempt to weaken Anna Nicole and get her money. Having a biological child with Anna doesn’t...

Shrek The Third Movie Trailer

So I’m watching American Idol — the best of the worst episode — and just saw an ad for the new Shrek movie, Shrek The Third. It looks pretty funny. Donkey and his dragon wife have flying donkey babies. And Puss is along for the ride too. Check it out the official trailer… Fun facts about the Shrek movies: Shrek was the first film to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, a category introduced in 2001. It’s based upon William Steig’s 1990 fairy tale picture book entitled Shrek! The name ‘Shrek’ comes from the German word “schreck”...

Oprah Winfrey And David Letterman’s Super Bowl Love

I’m so glad I found this! It was one of the better commercials during the Super Bowl last Sunday. The story goes that Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman have been in somewhat of a feud for years. I’m not really how it’s said to have started. I think it’s because Oprah said that Dave made mean jokes about her years and years ago. Whatever the reason, they finally made up* in 2005 and now they love each other more than ever before. It’s quite sweet, really… * Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman buried the hatchet [Dec 5, 2005) on “The Late Show” and...

Super Bowl XLI Commercial Round-Up

I realize it’s two days after the Super Bowl, but I was really busy yesterday. Please don’t hold it against me. I don’t know about you, but I thought the commercials were pretty darn boring this year. Aside from the Kevin Federline one, of course. I like the Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites one with Jessica Simpson proclaiming, “Cheesy bites, my one true love.” It’s really only funny because she just got divorced. Which isn’t funny in and of itself, but I really like it when people are able to poke fun at themselves. Like I say, “If you...
